Amplid Surf Shuttle,mein erstes Board in der gehobenen Preisklasse. HQ in Deutschland, Werbung mit Innovation, von Rider-für-Rider, super leicht, etc. Sollte doch Top sein?!
Leider ist die Verarbeitung an den Kanten nicht so super wie ich es von einem Board in der Preisklasse erwartet hätte. Teilweise große Lücken zwischen den Segmenten die auch nicht richtig mit Harz ausgefüllt sind.
TOP allerdings die Reaktion von Amplid. Schneller Umtausch und die "Erlaubnis" das Board schonmal zu testen, bevor das neue Board da war.

The lightest wood core money can buy. Weightless Paulownia and Balsa are carefully arranged with stronger Birch to save valuable grams without sacrificing strength.
A dependable, low density Poplar wood core which is lightweight, durable and has great flex memory. The industry
standard for great performance.
On the Milligram we have added multidirectional glass pads in the binding area, to avoid dings caused by the pointy corners of metal splitboard binding bases. These pads enhance durability while only adding minimal weight.
Full Carbon Jacket
Amplid’s Full Carbon Jacket is the most expensive fiber laminate in Amplid’s arsenal. Carbon’s tensile strength to weight ratio is unbeatable, it allows the use of thinner, almost weightless laminates to achieve the same flex profile. Its responsive and energized feel is unique.
Ultra wide, low rising tips that exist purely to create lift in powder without sucking-up speed. They add a surfy feel to skis and snowboards.
Topless Tanga Technology
A partial, hardwearing topsheet material deliberately used in areas where chipping might otherwise occur. This minimalist approach reduces weight for touring.
Sintered 7HD Base
A premium sintered plastic which readily absorbs wax and will out-run your riding buddies’ bases without breaking a sweat. You better get used to waiting.
We lightly round the edges at the tip and tail, outside of the effective edge. Blunting these edges reduces chipping to the topsheet during skinning.
Bolted Tip Clips
Using threaded bolts instead of rivets allows broken tip clips to be easily replaced, on the hill, without the need for a workshop full of tools.
Spanning a snow hole with one split ski at full stride can snap it clean in two. Extra unidirectional carbon stringers along the underside of the core increases bending stiffness, reducing “dishing” in deep snow and increasing breaking resistance.

Peter Bauer had already contacted me before the first ISPO presentation of the Milligram, that was in January 2013. At that time the Milligram was only available in short lengths and my skepticism regarding durability was great. We have a lot of experience with PRIOR on the subject of lightweight construction and do not want weight savings at the expense of durability or driving pleasure. So it should take a few more years until the product range as well as the reliability/stability of the Milligram fit to our requirements. In the winter 17/18 it was then so far. The milligram is available in 158 - 168 and has a weight of approx. 2.5kg with the 163 length. That's 15.3 grams per model/shape centimeter. For comparison, a Prior XTC BC 165 has 17 grams per model centimeter.
After the successful 1st Amplid season 18/19, we have extended the assortment. I tested a Millisurf and was especially curious about ascent characteristics and buoyancy. Because with max. 161 it is not exactly a longboard for powdering. But the practice showed it: good edge hold and powder top! In addition there is a really great feeling on the piste. The millisurf does not rotate or carved linearly but dynamically. The first 2 swings feel a bit sluggish, but are fun to do more! At the latest after a descent you are inside and it is really fun to carve on a hard slope with the Millisurf.
NEW: from 2020 the Millisurf will also be available in normal lightweight construction at a lower price.
Whether Milli or Shuttle, for me one of the best all-rounders for touring:
- when there is no powder, short and agile
- when powder has enough lift that it deserves its name SURF!
