ABS - the market leader since 1985

A new era was heralded for ABS in 2017. I got my first ABS backpack directly from the founder Peter Aschauer. He lived in Pasing at the beginning of 2000, that was just around the corner from me. Since then I have only been using ABS and of course I have also looked at other products that have been developed in recent years following the example of ABS. But none could convince me as much as the principle of ABS and none would have wanted to entrust my life to anyone. The higher weight (in the beginning 6kg the 50 liter backpack, Vario approx. 3.5 kg) has never bothered me but it is of course fine if less goes with the same performance. Only the Zip-ON sacks from ABS itself, were the last 5 years not to my taste. I still had a model in front of me who had a really thought-out pack size. In recent years, ABS has been struggling on the market, in the truest sense of the word. Avalanche backpacks of other manufacturers became lighter and the packsacks liked better. In 2017 ABS was then sold to a new dynamic investor group. Within only 1 year the product range was renewed and the result is more than worth seeing. The advantages of the principle of how the deployment works and the shape of the airbag are the result of over 30 years of know-how. I am very pleased that ABS is now taking off in a new and innovative way and is once again presenting itself at eye level with the best avalanche airbag concept on the market. The weight and functionality of the backpack storage space are excellent and the 30 year old proven technology has already proven how important ABS can be when you're out of luck or too brave. On all our camps you can borrow ABS backpacks like the last decades, from 2018 the newest generation: s.Light under 2 kg.
